The Blacksburg Chamber Music Series was founded in Blacksburg, Virginia, in 1967. The series was run by a Board of faculty members from Virginia Tech, including its chairman David A. West and his wife Lindsay Butte West. Other Board members include Leslie Mapass, Charles Frohn, Guy B. Hammond, and Herschel and Wilhelmina Elarth.
In the 1970-1971, it became the Virginia Tech Union Chamber Music Series.
