Historical Note
The Roanoke Railway and Electric Company, founded around 1901, succeeded the Roanoke Street Railway Company. An affiliate of the Lynchburg Traction and Light Company, the RR&E operated a trolley line and provided electricity in the Roanoke area. The company's trolley line was abandoned in 1948.
