John S. White VPI Coat and Cape

Abstract The coat is navy blue with black lining, with red lining under the cape. There are gold diagonal stripes on the lower sleeves and six gold "VPI" buttons on the coat. There are eight smaller but identical buttons on the cape. Along the inside of the back of the collar is a small silver chain, and on the front of the inside of the collar are two silver hooks. There is a rectangular pocket on the left side of the coat lining. A label inside the jacket reads "John Stephen White 52-38-31-39-19...

William Martin Johnson Papers

Abstract

The William Martin Johnson Papers include both personal and professional correspondence, ranging from November 1932 to March 1977. Johnson wrote to representatives at Public Works, American Society of Civil Engineers, the Department of Architectural Engineering at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and the War Assets Administration, among others. Johnson (1904-1991) graduated from VPI in 1928 and worked as a Civil Engineer for Wiley and Wilson in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Abstract The Joseph Lonsdale Hunter Mechanical Drawing Set collection is housed in a small wooden box with a key hole. On the top of the box is a small gold plate, likely meant to be engraved but never was. Inside the box is a blue velvet lined tray that holds eight mechanical drawing tools.
