Biographical Note
James W. Dean served as an administrator in Student Affairs for over two decades. He was the Director of Student Affairs and Dean of Civilian Students from 1959-1963, and the Dean of Students from 1963-1968. "Dean of Students" was retired as a position in 1968 (it was later brought back in 1990), at which time Dean transitioned to the being Vice President for Student Affairs from 1968-1981.
