Biographical Note

Thomas Alexander Mahood was born in 1838. Prior to the Civil War, he was a carpenter in Giles County. He enlisted as a lieutenant with French's Battery, Giles Artillery (Wise Legion, Virginia Artillery) in May of 1861 and was reelected a year later. He served until at least 1864. He later moved to West Virginia, where he died in 1916.
