Biographical Note

William Alfred Revell was born in Ireland in 1841 or 1842. In 1849, he came to the United States as a child. By 1850, his family had settled in Wisconsin. During the Civil War, he served as a captain in the 13th New York Cavalry Volunteers. In 1868, he married his wife, Anna, with whom he had at least one daughter, Jennie. By 1880, Revell was in the New York City police force. By 1910, he was living back in Watertown, Wisconsin, but relocated to Los Angeles, California, before 1920. Revell died in California in 1924.
