Biographical Note
Hiram P. Teed was born about 1834 in New York and married Elizabeth Wakeman (b. abt. 1831). He enlisted with the 144th Regiment, New York Infantry during the Civil War and fought in several battles including Fort Wagner and Honey Hill. After the war, Teed returned to New York. In 1876 he and his wife had a daughter, Isa (Isabelle?). By 1880, they had moved to Pennsylvania and Teed worked as a sewing machine dealer.

Abstract
The Hiram P. Teed Correspondence collection consists of correspondence between Pvt. Hiram P. Teed and his wife, Elizabeth. Altogether, there are seven letters--six from Teed, one from Elizabeth--from 1862-1863.
