Biographical Note
Nathaniel H. Talbot was born in Massachusetts, probably in 1831 or 1832. He likely served with the 43rd Regiment, Mass Infantry (Militia) prior to his nine month service with the 58th. Commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the 58th, Talbot served until July 1865, mustering out as 1st Lieutenant. He appears to have been a photographer before the war. Some time before 1880, he moved, with his wife (Susan A.) and his two children (Arthur H., b, abt. 1862, and Almira S., b. abt. 1865) to Colorado, where he owned a photography studio and served as the postmaster.
