Biographical Note

Mary Eleanor Wiatt (sometimes Wyatt) was born to John and Cecilia Dabney Wiatt in February of 1812 in Wake County, North Carolina. In 1833, she married William Edward Foster. The couple had four children: Cecilia Dabney Foster Lawrence (1835-1894); Cora M. Foster Yarborough (1838-?); Eleanor Foster Yarborough (1840-1925); and William Edward Foster (1843-1906). The youngest, William, was born several days after the death of his father. Mary died in 1894, a few months after her eldest daughter.
