Biographical Note

Nancy Kelly is a Virginia Tech alumna from the early 1980s. After leaving Virginia Tech, she had a strained relations with the institution due to her treatment by the school and students as an out lesbian. After years of alienation from her alma mater, Kelly chose to reengage with Virginia Tech to help tell the story of LGBTQ+ experience at the school and in the surrounding area.

Kelly is the Director of Nicholas Community Engagement & Events at Duke University's Nicholas School of the Environment. She has been honored as Blue Devil of the Week (2017) and as a Duke Star Advisor (2017) and was the invited speaker at the Nicholas School Graduation in 2017.
