Field, Cyrus W. (Cyrus West), 1819-1892
Cyrus West Field (1819-1892) co-founded the Atlantic Telegraph Company, which laid the first telegraph cable across the Atlantic Ocean in 1858. It failed after three weeks, but the company laid another, more successful cable in 1866.
