Vaughan, George Tully, 1859-1948
Biographical Note
Dr. George Tully Vaughan was born June 27, 1859, to Dr. James Vaughan and Frances Shields Vaughan. Vaughan received his medical degree from the University of Virginia in 1879 and his Doctor of Laws from Georgetown University in 1919. Vaughan worked as a surgeon for most of his life, including on the USS Leviathan during World War I from 1917 to 1919. He also served in the United States Navy Medical Reserve Corps as a Commander and was a professor of sugery at Georgetown University starting in 1897.
Dr. Vaughan married May T. Venable on June 27, 1883, and they had several children. Vaughan died on April 26, 1948, and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
