Biographical Note
Herbert Reed Pollard Jr., son of Herbert R. and Ava Rawls Holland Pollard, was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, on May 15, 1913. He graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (now Virginia Tech) with a degree in business administration in 1934. He married Mary Allen Everett (1915-2000) in Portsmouth on October 18, 1947; at the time, Pollard was employed as an office manager for Clinton E. Boyce. A 1951 Portsmouth city directory lists Pollard as a salesman for Boyce's. Herbert R. Pollard Jr. died in Portsmouth on October 3, 2002, and was buried in Portsmouth's Olive Branch Cemetery.

This collection contains three items collected by Herbert Reed Pollard, a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and related to the Virginia Polytechnic Institute Corps of Cadets, including a 1933 ROTC dinner program, a photograph of the 1934 officers of the Corps' Company E, and a photocopied newspaper clipping of the Corps marching in Norfolk, Virginia.
