Biographical Note
Bertram Arthur Holtzworth (1904-1971) was born in West Virginia to Arthur and Nettie Holtzworth. He attended Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College and Polytechnic Institute (VPI) from 1921-1923 before moving on to the United States Military Academy (West Point), graduating in 1927. Holtzworth served in the United States Army from 1923 until 1963, fighting in both World War II and the Korean War, and retired as a Major General. He received the Legion of Merit of the U.S. Armed Forces for "exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States with the G-4 Section, Headquarters, 12th Army Group, from 1943 to 1945" and the Army Distinguished Service Medal for "exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during the period August 1954 to July 1963."
Holtzworth married his wife Caroline (1903-1984) in the 1930s, and they are buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

Bertram A. Holtzworth Scrapbook
This scrapbook contains photographs and memorabilia dating 1918-1926 from United States Military Academy (West Point) and Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VPI) by Bertram A. Holtzworth, who attended VPI before graduating from West Point in 1927. He served in the U.S. Army from his time as a cadet at West Point until his retirement as Major General in 1963.
