Biographical Note

Jean Haskell-Speer worked with Virginia Tech as an Associate Professor of Communication Studies and Humanities. She received a B.A. from Memphis State in 1969 and a M.A. from the same institution in 1970. In 1978 she received her Ph. D. from Texas. In 1992, Dr. Haskell-Speer partnered with Dr. Elizabeth Fine, and they established the Appalachain Studies Program at Virginia Tech.
