Biographical Note

Thomas Edward Dashiell was born July 16, 1876 in Accomac, Virginia. Dashiell attended the Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College from 1893 through 1896, dropping out due to the illness of his father, Thomas Jefferson Dashiell. While at the Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College, Thomas Dashiell became a popular football player and participated in the first game against the Virginia Military Institute in November of 1894. After leaving the college, Dashiell took a job working at Merchants and Farmers Bank; he married Adelia Howland Nash in January of 1902. Together, they had two children, Katherine Nash Dashiell and Mrs. Eleanor Graham. Thomas E. Dashiell died in September 1970 in Butler, Pennsylvania.
