Scope and Content
This collection contains three letters sent to or from Alfred Hughes, a doctor and political prisoner in Ohio during the Civil War. This colleciton also contains the envelopes used to send these letters. In Hughes letter to his wife, he provides updates on his parole and expresses the importance of letters from loved ones. Also included in this collection is a pass issued by Ohio Governor, David Tod, that allowed Alfred Hughes to visit Camp Chase. This collection also includes three envelopes sent to Alfred Hughes.
