Mary Anne Shephard Manuscript, 1847-1850, 1950, 2016
Scope and Content
The Mary Anne Shephard Manuscript is a manuscript titled, "Principles and Illustrations of Gothic Ecclesiastical Architecture", created by Shephard in 1847 that details gothic architecture through descriptions and numerous drawings with an additional focus on churches and ministers. This may be based on Matthew Holbrech Bloxam's The Principles of Gothic Ecclesiastical Architecture (London, 1829). The majority of the document was written in 1847, but there are dates written that reach 1850. There is a date in the front of the manuscript marked 1950, possibly by a previous owner, and a date marked 2016, possibly to mark the purchase of the manuscript.
