Scope and Content
The Richard Leon Kimball, Jr. Cadet Uniform collection consists of a jacket, blouse, and trousers.
The jacket is made of a blue grey fabric with black and grey plastic buttons. There are two front pockets on the chest of the jacket with button closures. Trim at the bottom of the jacket has red, grey and black stripes. The jacket is in fair condition, some loose threads and moth holes.
The blouse is made of a grey fabric with a tan lining around the collar. There are two front pockets on the chest of the jacket with button closures. There are two button closures on each sleeves cuff. The blouse buttons down the center with black plastic buttons. The right chest pocket reads "U.S R.O.T.C." On the bottom right of the blouse is a tag that reads "DRY CLEAN ONLY 100% VIRGIN WOOL-EXCLUSIVE OF ORNAMENTATION STYLE No. LOT No. SIZE 21 54 MR. IDENTIFICATION MOCK PRODUCT OF B. Lippman Inc., New York, N.Y." The label on the side of the collar reads "Flying Cross DISTINGUSHED SERVICE ____." "15 3" is printed on the inside of the collar. The condition of the blouse is fair, there is a good amount of moth holes present.
The trousers are a blue grey fabric with button closures and a hook closure at the top. There are belt loops around the waist of the trousers. Two back pockets on the reverse of the trousers. There are black strips of fabric down the sides of the trousers. A label on the inside reads "Virginia Polytechnic Institute UNIFORM DEPARTMENT BLACKSBURG VIRGINIA." Hand written above the label is "Leon Kimball" and below the label is "Kimball 31- 29 3- 38." The trousers are in fair condition, some moth holes and fraying fabric.
