VPI Small Plate, c.1902-1904
Scope and Content
The James William McClelland V.P.I. Tableware collection consists of one small plate, one medium sized plate, and a tea/coffee cup.
The small plate is white with a maroon wreath in the center. In the middle of the wreath in yellow is a "VPI" overlapping letter logo with two crossing guns beneath it. Stamped into the bottom of the plate is "GREENWOOD CHINA TRENTON N.J." The plate is in good condition, very minor signs of age such as some specs of discoloration.
The medium sized plate is also white in color with "V.P.I.' printed on the rim of the plate in an orange brown color. Stamped on the bottom of the plate is "K T & K CHINA." The plate is in good conditon, some minor signs of age and a round shaped chip in the bottom center of the plate.
The tea/coffee cup is white in color with the same design as the small plate on the side of it. It has a small handle with enough room to fit one finger through. The small plate is slightly too large to be a saucer for the cup, but could have possibly been its intention. The cup is in fair condition and has more signs of ware and discoloration than the plates. Logo is also fading.
