The collection documents the activities of the Alliance of Women in Architecture (AWA) and its transition into the Women in Architecture (WIA) Committee of the AIA New York Chapter, as well as related AIA New York State initiatives, primarily dating from 1992 to 1998. Materials reflect the committee's governance, administration, public programming, advocacy, financial management, membership activities, professional development, and outreach efforts.

Records include meeting minutes, agendas, committee files, correspondence, reports, financial records, membership materials, conference and event planning files, newsletters, publications, articles, research materials, architectural reference resources, promotional materials, and legislative and government affairs documentation. The collection also documents major initiatives including the Lecture and Conversation Series, Women Patrons, Project Punch List, Connections: A Forum for Work by Women, and Projections: A Celebration of Work by Women, as well as exhibitions, newspaper clippings, and reference materials relating to women architects, architectural practice, and the advancement of women within the profession.
