Scope and Content
From the Collection:
The collection includes a letter from F. B. Deane, Jr. of Deane & Son Foundry, Lynchburg, Nov. 23, 1864. The letter request permission from Brigadier General John Echols to transport pork to Dublin and Abingdon VA. The Foundry was responsible for manufacturing ordnance during the Civil War. On the back of the letter there is a note from Echols recommending approval.
