Letter to "Cousin Gilman", September 23, 1860

 Item — Folder: 1

Scope and Content

From the Collection:

The collection includes an account book belonging to Asa F. Horn in addition to three letters, two written from Joel B. Ricker to "Cousin Gilman" (possibly Gilman Horn) and one from Emma Horn to "Brother Freeman" (perhaps Asa F.?) All are most likely from the area surrounding Acton, Maine, though it is unclear how they are related. The letter (1861) from Emma Horn was dictated by a John, mentioned along with Freeman in the first of the Ricker letters, and discusses his illness and ongoings at their mill. In the Ricker letters (1860), Joel writes to Gilman about happenings in the town since Gilman left, including the fact that John and Freeman sold a mill.
