Scope and Contents
The collection contains a note written by Major Charles S. Stringfellow at Christiansburg, Virginia, to Colonel W. L. Jackson on May 25, 1862. The note seems to refute on a previous report that the Union army had been repuled and offers an update on their position. He also mentions the availabilty of troops from Staunton who would be relocated to defend a train depot and bridge. In addition, this collection contains a partial biography/obituary of Stringfellow.
