Abstract This historical map of Augusta County, Virginia, was compiled from maps, historical records, and traditions by J. R. Hildebrand, who copyrighted the historical map in 1933. Created in 1933, the map includes historical information from 1732-1832. It contains a brief history of the county surrounding the map, and on the map are identified locations for incidents of historical interest. Map is likely illustrated by Joan Blaeu, though no name appears on the map itself. Contains two compass roses, three sailing ships, two cherubs holding a banner containing the map's scale, and illustrations of native peoples. On reverse, Latin text from unidentified book, from which the map was removed.

Map is only colored at state borders. Text on map indicates that parts are taken from Fry and Jefferson's Map of Virginia, Scull's Map of Pennsylvania, and Hutchins' work.
