Jones was the literary editor for the Chicago Evening Post. The correspondence primarily discusses the reviews of Anderson's works by Jones and other critics.

Anthony describes a job offer from the James River Company and his resignation from his job working for Colonel Pipen, shows admiration for his employer, and offers a replacement for his position.
