Silver "VA TECH" Belt Buckles

Abstract

This collection consists of two Virginia Tech belt buckles. The larger buckle is a silver belt buckle that says "VA. TECH." The back is inscribed "The Pettibone Mfg. Co. Cin'ti.O." The smaller silver belt buckle says, in small caps, "VA TECH".

South Atlantic Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SAIAA) 1920 Track Meet Official Badge

Abstract

South Atlantic Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SAIAA) 1920 Track Meet pin says "Official" on the front. A red, white, and blue ribbon hangs from the pin with a medal. The back of the medal says "Miles Field, Blacksburg, VA." The front is embossed with a man holding laurel wreaths, a Greek fret border, the letters "SAIAA", and "MCMXX".

Southwestern Presbyterian University Commemorative Medal

Abstract This bronze medal commemorates the 50th anniversary of the founding of Southwestern Presbyterian University of Clarksville, TN, and its move to Memphis as well as name change to Southwestern. It is embossed on the front with "SOUTHWESTERN / 1875-1925 / [buiding image of Palmer Hall] / PALMER HALL / JUBILEE AND / INAUGURAL / NOV. 26-28-1925 / -.- / MEMPHIS, TENN." The back has a laurel wreath surrounding the text "TO COMMEMORATE THE FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF SOUTHWESTERN PRESBYTERIAN UNIVERSITY...

Toy stove

Abstract

This item is a c.1910s children's toy stove. When used, this stove would have been fueled by kerosene. This stove is missing some parts and has some damage, but it includes the stove, two pots (one with a lid), a kettle, a small baking pan, several kerosene burners, and handles from missing pots. The stove is missing the chimney, a few handles on stove doors, and likely several small pots and a larger vessel with a spout for heating water.

University of Virginia Commemorative Medal

Abstract

This bronze medal is embossed on one side with the seal of the University of Virginia (or similar image), which reads "UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA" at the top, says "1819" at the bottom, and in between depicts a woman in ancient Roman-style dress in front of buildings and holding a staff. The other side is embossed "HAEC OLIM MEMINISSE IVVABIT" on top, "1921" on the bottom, and in between the profile of a man.

V.A.M.C. Diploma Printing Plate

Abstract The Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College diploma printing plate is a gold/copper hued metal and is mounted on a wooden frame. At the top of the plate is the college's seal, followed by text in reverse in the middle, and two crossed rifles at the bottom of the plate. Surrounding the college's seal is text stating "Virgina Argricultural and Mechanical College." Virginia Polytechnic Institute Seal Press

Abstract This collection consists of a press, and two plates depicting the V.P.I. seal. The press is made of metal and has been painted black. The press consists of the body and the lever that presses the seal into desired page. On both sides of the press is a star design. The center of the star is a red circle, while the points are gold. Virginia Tech Bag

Abstract

This is a pyramidical maroon and orange bag with "VIRGINIA TECH" (in print or block lettering), "Hokies" (in cursive), and the long-necked Fighting Gobbler emblem on each side. The inside of the bag has a tag that reads "ATCHISON LEATHER INC. ATCHISON, KANSAS."

Virginia Tech Banner

Abstract

The banner is white with three large grommet holes along the top and bottom for hanging purposes. In the top right and left corners of the banner are two different versions of the Virginia Tech logo in orange and maroon. In the middle of the banner is a "VPI" logo with a fightin' gobbler head and the text "FIGHTIN' GOBBLER" below it. On either side of the "VPI" logo are different versions of the Hokie Bird.
