Virginia Polytechnic Institute Seal Press

Abstract This collection consists of a press, and two plates depicting the V.P.I. seal. The press is made of metal and has been painted black. The press consists of the body and the lever that presses the seal into desired page. On both sides of the press is a star design. The center of the star is a red circle, while the points are gold. Hardywood Fightin' Hokies Lager Bottle

Abstract

The bottle is amber with a sticker label that wraps around majority of the bottle's body. The label has a brick pattern at the top, followed by an orange line, and below the line is all maroon. The front of the bottle says "HARDYWOOD" above a maroon gobbler that is inside a white diamond. Below the gobbler is the text "FIGHTIN' HOKIES LAGER ALCOHOL 5.0% BY VOL . 12 FL OZ." The same logo and text is repeated on the side of the bottle.

39th National Encampment GAR Medal

Abstract The medal is a copper colored metal and is circular. On one side of the medal is a dotted border, and in curvered text inside the border is "39TH NATIONAL ENCAMPMENT G.A.R. DENVER SEPT. 1905." The center of the medal has a curved laurel wreath design with text inside it that reads "IN HONOR OF THE BRAVE MEN WHO VICTORIOUSLY DEFENDED THE UNION ON LAND AND SEA DURING THE WAR OF THE GREAT REBELLION 1861-1865." Virginia Tech Banner

Abstract

The banner is white with three large grommet holes along the top and bottom for hanging purposes. In the top right and left corners of the banner are two different versions of the Virginia Tech logo in orange and maroon. In the middle of the banner is a "VPI" logo with a fightin' gobbler head and the text "FIGHTIN' GOBBLER" below it. On either side of the "VPI" logo are different versions of the Hokie Bird.

V.P.I. Research Division Pistonphone

Abstract

This pistonphone is housed inside of a wooden box with two metal buckle closures. Inside the wooden box is a black velvet lining with inlays that hold the four pieces of the pistonphone. A black strap on the interior lid of the box holds four sheets of paper that deal with cerifictation and proccessing of the pistonphone.

Drum Major's Mace

Abstract

This Drum Major's Mace was previously owned by Ralph Edward Hughes and was possibly given to him by Sherman Edmond Seelinger. The mace is approxamately three feet long and is wrapped in orange and maroon ribbon, with excess ribbon hanging off of one end. On the opposite end of the mace is a rounded wooden top that has been painted gold.

HokieBird Bobblehead

Abstract

The collection contains a HokieBird Bobblehead with its hand raised to represent the number one. Presumably made by the company PPi Sports, the bobblehead likely dates from the 2000s or 2010s.

"Hokie" Wooden Sculpture

Abstract

The sculpture is made up of maroon toned wood and tan toned wood pieces that form the HokieBird mascot with his arms crossed. His beak, eyes, and ends of tail are made of the tan wood while the rest is a maroon wood. White dots are painted on the eyes, and written in black between his toes is "TM." Wrapped around his neck is a black cord with a orange, tan and maroon HokieBird pin attached to it.

V.A.M.C. Diploma Printing Plate

Abstract The Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College diploma printing plate is a gold/copper hued metal and is mounted on a wooden frame. At the top of the plate is the college's seal, followed by text in reverse in the middle, and two crossed rifles at the bottom of the plate. Surrounding the college's seal is text stating "Virgina Argricultural and Mechanical College."
