Abstract

Letter from Catlett Conway to Willie, in which he describes his health decline as well as his and his family’s current employment conditions; hints of the advantages of Willie and Henry moving nearer to Richmond so the family can all be together; and briefly recounts his thoughts on serving in fourteen bloody conflicts during the Civil War in response to an encounter with a young man who served in the U.S. regulars and was “bragging” about the “great battles at Santiago.”
