Walter H. Beal is listed in the VAMC Catalog of Officers and Students for 1882-1883 and 1884-1885 (no 1883-1884 or 1885-1886 catalogs are available). The 1886-1887 catalog lists Beal among the alumni from 1886 with a degree in Mining Engineering. All three of the catalogs list his home as Hanover, Virginia.

The collection contains two speeches by Beal in 1886: a valedictory address to the class of 1886, and a farewell address to the Lee Literary Society.

Abstract

The collection contains two speeches by Beal in 1886: a valedictory address to the class of 1886, and a farewell address to the Lee Literary Society. The valedictory speech is in a folder with the title, "The Golden Ages are before us," and was given on Friday, April 30th, 1886. The farewell speech, according to the note on the back of the last page, was given at the final meeting of the Lee Literary Society in June 1886.

The processing, arrangement, and description of the Walter H. Beal, Sr., Speeches commenced and was completed in 1988. Additional description was completed in May 2009.
