Biographical Note

Greenville Darius Wood was born to Richard J. and Judith Anne Shortt Wood on November 9, 1866. Following the 1892 death of his first wife, Melissa Graham, Wood married Lilly Barnard in 1895, and the couple had five children. Wood seems to have lived his entire adult life in the Little River District of Floyd County, Virginia, where he worked as a merchant and farmer. Greenville D. Wood died on September 13, 1943, and is buried in Floyd County's Harvestwood Cemetery.
