The Blacksburg Study Group was funded by the Blacksburg Town Council under the aegis of the Townscape Committee to study the town's architecture and landscape, to inform town officials about present conditions, and to make recommendations for changes. Results were accumulated for a book, Blacksburg - Understanding a Virginia Town: Town Architecture (1986) by Donna Dunay.
