Scope and Content

This collection contains a manuscript list (photocopy only) of Company E, 4th Virginia Volunteer Regiment, of the Confederate Army during the American Civil War, which was written by Robinson, listing rank, age, eye and hair color, occupation, and other information about the men in the company, most of them from Southwest Virginia counties. Also includes an itemized list of clothing distributed to each man. Also included are details of various post-war financial transactions.

Biographical Note

David Tobias Robinson was born October 8, 1845 and lived until June 16, 1925. During the American Civil War, Robinson enlisted in the Confederate Army in 1861 abd joined Company E of the Virginia 4th Infantry. Robinson entered the Confederate Army as a private and left as a 2nd Lieutenant. Robinson is currently buried in the Robinson Family Cemetery in Montgomery County, Virginia.

Abstract

Robinson, listing rank, age, eye and hair color, occupation, and other information about the men in the company. David Tobias Robinson was born October 8, 1845 and lived until June 16, 1925. Robinson enlisted in the Confederate Army in 1861 and joined Company E of the 4th Virginia Infantry. Robinson entered the Confederate Army as a private and left as a 2nd lieutenant.
