Scope and Contents

Scope is 1968-69. Topics of the letters to the editor include alcoholic beverages, women at VPI, VPI name change, and removing the Confederate flag from the Coliseum. Also included are letters of a political nature including a signed letter from David Eisenhower on "Youth for Nixon-Agnew," correspondence with Senator William B. Spong, Jr., and letters congratulating Minogue on her appointment as editor-in-chief.

Biographical Note

Lucy Minogue (Rowland) was a member of the class of 1969 at Virginia Polytechnic Institute. She was first news editor and then editor-in-chief of the student newspaper The Virginia Techin 1968-69. She earned a B.S. in biology/zoology (1969) and a M.S. in microbiology (1972) at Virginia Tech, and later earned a Masters in Library Science at the University of Maryland.

Abstract

This collection contains letters to the editor received by Lucy Minogue when she was news editor and editor-in-chief of The Virginia Techin 1968-69. Also included are other correspondence she received during the same time, editorial copy, and the paper's masthead.

The collection is arranged chronologically. Note that letters to the paper initialed by Lucy Minogue were published. Those marked "NP" were not published.
