Administrative History

Founded in 1908, the National Governors Association is a non-partisan public policy organization of the governors of the United States. In addition to representing states' interests in key federal issues before the national executive and legislative branches of government, the association also develops policy reports on state programs. The association's annual conference is held in a different state each year.

The Greenbrier resort, located in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, was founded in 1858, and the current hotel building constructed in 1913. The hotel has been owned by the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway (now CSX) from 1910 until present, with the exception of the World War II years.
