Scope and Content

The Thomas Booth Correspondence contains one eight page letter datelined Yorktown 9 June 1861 and addressed to "My Little Darling." The letter contains brief descriptions of cavalry scouting activites and troop movement, reports from the battlefield, camp life, and the citizens on the homefront during the American Civil War. Booth remarks that the Confederate scouts "laugh and talk about chasing the Yanks as I would about running a fox."

Biographical Note

Thomas Boisseau Booth, born 1840 was an 1860 graudate of Virginia Military Institute and enlisted in the 3rd Virginia Calvary of the Confederate Army, in May 1861 during the American Civil War. He died July 29, 1923.
