Scope and Content

The collection contains a letter written from H. G. Davis to his son written June 19th, 1876. The letter apologizes for Davis's inability to visit due to incessant rain. Davis also encourages his son to look into buying a farm, promising him preferential treatment from the seller and offering him advice as to how he could afford it.

Biographical Note

Unfortunately with only initials and a common last name to whom to attribute the letter, it is difficult to determine which H. G. Davis wrote the letter, rendering the author a mystery.

Acquisition Information

The collection was purchased as part of lot of family letters by Special Collections in September 2012. The letter did not appear to have a connection to the other two families, so it was removed and processed as a separate collection.
