The Virginia Tax Receipt includes a pre-printed tax receipt for Peter Logan, dated 1859, from Chesterfield, Virginia. There is a handwritten tax on one free person of color. Almost all printed categories except "Clock" and "Furniture" have been crossed out.

Biographical Note

Peter Logan was a resident of Chesterfield, Virginia. He may have been a freedman prior to the American Civil War.

There is a Peter Logan (ca. 1811-1880), who was a shoemaker in Chesterfield County, Virginia. He was married to Betsey Coy Logan (b. ca. 1820), and the couple had several children. He later married Sarah (b. ca. 1835), and they had several children.

Logan died September 2, 1880, in Manchester, Chesterfield County, Virginia.
