Historical Note
The Nuremberg Chronicle is an encyclopedia first published in 1493 in Nuremberg, documenting biblical history and the history of Christian figures. It was originally written in Latin by Hartmann Schedel, and woodcut illustrations were created in Michael Wolgemut's workshop for the printing. Wolgemut's stepson, Wilhelm Pleydenwurff, was involved in the illustration. The book was also translated into German by Georg Alt, and is the first printed book to include illustrations and text.
