Abstract

Map is part of the J. Hoge Tyler Family Collection, Ms.1967.002. This map is in 37 sheets, titled and numbered for ease of arrangement, with 1 (Winchester) being in the northwest and 34 (Norfolk) in the southeast. Three additional maps are labeled A-C (Richmond, Bermuda Hundred, and Petersburg), and they consist of a smaller-scale topography of the Richmond area. Areas depicted by the map were surveyed between 1882 and 1892, and the maps were finalized in editions ranging between 1889 and 1894. This map was published in 1906. Between maps 33 (Hillsville) and 34 (Norfolk) is a sizeable geographic area that appears to be missing from this collection. Map 34 (Norfolk) shows some damage at its western edge, with some of the map missing. Maps are numbered according to their geographic arrangement.
