John Garst Account Ledgers
Scope and Content
The ledgers in this collection are 150 pages long and detail John Garst's carpenter/mill business. The ledger entries include the making of 1100 rails, selling and purchasing plank makng, and repair/making wagons. There are many people mentioned throughout the ledgers, to include Charles Parrish Jr, Colonel Abraham Hupp, Robert Paxton, Adolphus Huff and more.

Biographical Note
John N. Garst (1796-1875), was the owner of Garst Mill/Kesler Mill. This mill was 130 acres of land on Mason's Creek. Today, the river than ran from the mill holds a park with walking trails and spaces for other recreational activities.
