Food and Household Advertising Ephemera Collection
Scope and Content
The collection consists of 62 pieces of advertising ephemera. The series include Enterprise Innovations and Conveniences, Iron Ware, Prepared or Convenience Food, Refrigerators, and Stoves and Stove Polish. The materials are primarily trade cards, but also include flyers and pamphlets.
Series I: Enterprise Innovations and Conveniences contains 14 items. 13 of them are trading cards for Enterprise products. These include grinders, choppers, seeders, faucets, presses, extractors, and more products. The 14th item is the recipe book "The Enterprising Housekeeper: 200 Tested Recipes by Helen Louise Johnson.
Series II: Iron Ware contains 2 trading cards for granite cookware and cast-iron pans.
Series III: Prepared or Convenience Food contains 22 items. There is 1 pamphlet for Thurbers' Strictuly Pure Flavoring Extracts. There are 21 trading cards for items such as corned beef, cereals, milk food, flour, yeast, and corn starch.
Series IV: Refrigerators contains 3 items. 1 is a trading card for the first hardwood refrigerator from the 1880s. The other two are flyers. The flyers are not located in a folder, but they are located at the bottom of box 1.
Series V: Stove and Stove Polish contains 22 items. 1 item is a brown paper bag advertising stove polish. 2 items are pamphlets. The remaining 19 items are trading cards for companies such as Garland Stoves, Hub Range, Taunton Iron Works, Acorn Stove, Rising Sun Stove Polish, and many more.

They contain topics related to Stoves and Stove Polish, Iron Ware, Prepared or Convenience Food, and Refrigerators. There is also a series for the Enterprise Innovations and Convenience advertising materials.

The collection is organized by types of kitchen and household items. Within the series, the items are organized by trading cards, pamphlets, and large advertisements.

The collection was purchased by Special Collections in January 2020.
