The George Withers Illustration Collection includes copies of illustrations by George Withers. Most were featured in magazines or books. This collection also includes a cover letter from his son, Brian Withers, regarding George's life and the contents of the collections, as well as a thank-you letter from the subject of one illustration.

Biographical / Historical
George Withers (1911-1959) was an illustrtor whose work was featured in Colliers, Cosmopolitan, Field & Stream, Life Magazine, Newsweek, the NY Times, Redbook Magazine, Saturday Evening Post, as well as 26 novels, educational books, and in stories for J. D. Sa;inger, John D. MacDonald, Mary Bickel, Robert Rurak, and Natalie Shipman. He enlisted in the army during World War II as a war artist for Stars & Stripes Magazine, painting world leaders and events. After the war, he returned to his career and participated in art therapy to recover from PTSD.
