Scope and Content From the Collection: The medal is a copper colored metal and is circular. On one side of the medal is a dotted border, and in curvered text inside the border is "39TH NATIONAL ENCAMPMENT G.A.R. DENVER SEPT. 1905." The center of the medal has a curved laurel wreath design with text inside it that reads "IN HONOR OF THE BRAVE MEN WHO VICTORIOUSLY DEFENDED THE UNION ON LAND AND SEA DURING THE WAR OF THE GREAT REBELLION 1861-1865."
