The collection contains two speeches by Walter H. Beal, Sr., in 1886, a valedictory address to the class of 1886 and a farewell address to the Lee Literary Society. The valedictory speech is in a folder with the title, "The Golden Ages are before us," and was given on Friday, April 30^th, 1886. The farewell speech, according to the note on the back of the last page, was given at the final meeting of the Lee Literary Society in June 1886.
