Scope and Contents From the Collection: This collection consists of a single hardbound notebook containing notes on engineering and mechanics, taken by Joseph T. Baily, a student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Troy, New York) in 1870. The majority of the notes were based on lectures by Charles McMillan (1841-1927), professor of geodesy at Rensselaer from 1865 to 1871.
