Abstract

This collection contains the scrapbook of William R. "Billy" Hite, Jr., when he was a senior at Varina High School in Richmond, Virginia. Hite played football at Varina and Virginia Tech, from which he earned a bachelor's and PhD in education in 1985 and 1998, respectively. He later became a principal and superintedent throughout the Mid-Atlantic United States.

William E. Hoge Family Papers

Abstract The Hoge Family was one of the earliest settlers of the New River area of southwest Virginia. William Edward Hoge and his family resided in Point Pleasant, Bland County Virginia, where William Hoge began his medicinal practice in 1855. Hoge was married to Jane L. Meek, and they had three sons and one daughter. The William E. Hoge Family Papers consist of 164 letters and 65 deeds, along with financial papers, postcards, and extensive genealogical research. "Hokie" Wooden Sculpture

Abstract

The sculpture is made up of maroon toned wood and tan toned wood pieces that form the HokieBird mascot with his arms crossed. His beak, eyes, and ends of tail are made of the tan wood while the rest is a maroon wood. White dots are painted on the eyes, and written in black between his toes is "TM." Wrapped around his neck is a black cord with a orange, tan and maroon HokieBird pin attached to it.
