This collection contains one certificate of proficiency in German awarded to Miss. Eleanor F. Sheffey. The certificate was issued by the Stonewall Jackson Institute for the 1882 to 1883 session and is signed by the Institute President Alex L. Holladay.

Billy G. Shelton Collection
The collection includes two photographs from 1962 of Shelton receiving an "Outstanding Trainee" certificate for his basic training company at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. It also includes a letter from the Fort Jackson Commanding General to VPI President Walter S. Newman about Shelton's award.
Farrar Shelton Paper
This paper describes the early meetings which lead to the creation of the farm demonstration work program. Farrar Shelton attended one of these early meetings as an eighth grader. Shelton later attended VPI and graduated with the class of 1915 with a degree in agriculture, he went on to become a county demonstration agent.
Shenandoah County Letter
Letter from an unidentified, presumed Confederate soldier in Shenandoah County, Virginia, written on October 11, 1864, to his wife and children, providing his sons with instructions for sowing wheat and rye and describing a recent battle, probably the Battle of Tom's Brook.

The collection consists of a scrapbook prepared by Harvey E. Shepherd, class of 1932, as a Cadet and graduate student at Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Also included are loose materials and a white belt with no buckle marked H.E. Shepherd Co. B, which were in the scrapbook.

The Jacob Sherman Legal Documents contain a complaint of Jacob Sherman and the testimony of Burgess R. Linkous regarding the sale of an enslaved person in Western Virginia in 1858.
