William Smith Hanger Baylor Correspondence
The William Smith Hanger Baylor Correspondence contains three letters written during the American Civil War: two letters from Baylor to his wife (April 22 and August 18, 1862) and a letter from Edward P. Walton to Mrs. Baylor written after Baylor's death (October 1, 1862).

The collection contains a letter from George W. Beach to James Earle, dated September 26, 1863. The letter responds to an earlier letter from James Earle and describes why Beach's brigade has limited rations.
Bear Family Papers
Jonathan B. Beckwith Letters
The collection contains two letters to relatives by Jonathan B. Beckwith. In the 1861 letter, Beckwith writes of the burgeoning American Civil War in Virginia and what he has heard about actions in surrounding states. The 1866 letter refers to family business and Beckwith's views on ante- and post-bellum West Virginia.
Bedford Springs, Pennsylvania, Civil War Letter
Letter written by "Aunt Hetty" (or Netty) at Bedford [Pennsylvania] on August 26, 1861, and addressed to "My dear John," relaying personal and local news, including the presence of Confederate Colonel [John] Pegram, recuperating at the local springs.
William Belew Claim for Quartermaster Stores
The collection contains the William Belew claim for quartermaster stores stolen from his farm by Confederate forces in 1863 and 1864 during the American Civil War. The claim is dated 1868, and lists food, livestock, and fodder confiscated by three different Confederate units.
