Three letters written by Delia Brown Herbert, of Bergen (Genesee County), New York, to her sister Achsah Smith in Lockhart, New York, regarding her concern over the whereabouts and wellbeing of "Hank" (her husband, Henry E. Herbert, serving in Battery M, 1st New York Light Infantry during the American Civil War).

The Huff-Hylton Families Papers consists of items from the early 1800s through the American Civil War pertaining to the business and personal lives of Samuel Huff, Lorenzo Dow Hylton, and their families in Montgomery (now Floyd) County, Virginia. Materials include promissory notes, correspondence, an indenture for land, and genealogical information.

The collection includes the Elizabeth Hughes claim for damages done to her home by unidentified Confederate forces in 1862 during the American Civil War. The claim is dated 1868, and details the loss of property stolen and destroyed by fire.

The collection includes the letter of Mary L. Hunt, a dying girl of Thorndike, Maine, to her Union soldier brother, Lieutenant S. Everett Hunt of the 29th Maine Infantry during the American Civil War.

Four complete letters and two fragments written to Jennie from William. Two letters and at least one fragment were written between 1853 and about 1856 from Chicago, Illinois. They are mainly love notes with family news, but mention in passing immigrants and Cassius M. Clay. The two later letters were written in Lynchburg, Virginia after the couple's marriage. The July 27, 1863 letter discusses possible upcoming battles and the high prices of food during the Civil War.

This collection contains correspondence from three Confederate soldiers--brothers George and Milton Koontz and their cousin George Miller--as well as official documents, two diaries of Milton S. Koontz, George Koontz's copybook, Milton Koontz's sketchbook, a stationery box, and a pencil drawing. Materials dates from 1861 to 1865.
